A Vintage Year for Steam – Aus Steam ’88 and Flying Scotsman in Australia

We recently opened a box and found mint copies of this book.
This book was conceived as a record of a Bicentennial transport spectacular. It includes photographs, colour and black and white of the congregation in Melbourne and district of locomotives from New South Wales, South Australia, A3 class 4472 “Flying Scotsman” from Britain, buses, trams, steam road locomotives from Tasmania.
The Aus Steam ’88 festival saw running of special trains from Melbourne to Geelong, Bendigo as well as the delivery from NSW and SA of the various locomotives and carriages.
“Flying Scotsman” ran on standard gauge in triple-parallel with two R-class hauled broad gauge train in Victoria and also ran from Sydney to Brisbane, to Adelaide and on to Alice Springs and then to Perth before being shipped home.
There are 130 black/white photographs and 37 colour photographs. There illustrated endpapers and the book is perfect bound. It measures 216 mm x 304 mm x 9 mm and is published in landscape format. This is the glazed card bound edition of the book.
